STEVIE ELLER DANCE THEATER

The Stevie Eller Dance Theater stands as one of Universal Wallboard’s most technically challenging and visually striking projects. This award-winning ground-up facility, completed in August 2003, showcases the intersection of architectural ambition and construction expertise. The project demanded precision execution of complex geometries, sophisticated acoustical systems, and specialty finishes that push beyond standard commercial construction.

This state-of-the-art performance and instruction facility serves the University of Arizona’s School of Dance, providing world-class spaces for both education and public performances. The building houses multiple dance studios, performance theaters, and support spaces—each with unique technical requirements for acoustics, flooring systems, and environmental control.

Universal Wallboard’s scope encompassed some of the most detailed and intricate wall design work in our portfolio. The project required complex metal framing for curved and angled walls, precision drywall installation to exacting tolerances, and sophisticated acoustical ceiling systems critical to the building’s performance function. The exterior incorporates distinctive rusted expanded steel lathe that serves both aesthetic and functional purposes, creating the building’s signature visual identity.

The successful completion of the Stevie Eller Dance Theater demonstrates Universal Wallboard’s capability to execute specialty projects where standard approaches don’t apply.
