ABOUT UNIVERSAL WALLBOARD

Building Southern Arizona Since 1972

OUR STORY.

Universal Wallboard Corporation began in 1972 with a simple commitment: deliver quality commercial drywall and metal framing that general contractors can rely on. Over five decades later, that commitment remains unchanged—even as we’ve grown to become Southern Arizona’s largest and most experienced commercial drywall contractor.

We’ve shaped the region’s skyline one project at a time. From the iconic domes of Biosphere 2 to the 14-story Ari apartments on Fourth Avenue, from every major hospital system to university athletic facilities—our work defines the spaces where Southern Arizonans live, work, heal, and learn.

With 20,000+ completed projects, we’ve worked with every major general contractor in the region. We’ve installed metal framing in high-rises, precision drywall assemblies in operating rooms, complex acoustical systems in performing arts centers, and everything in between. This breadth of experience is our specialty—we’re not limited by project type, scale, or complexity.

Our management team brings decades of combined expertise. We maintain a 24,000+ square foot facility, a substantial fleet, and the resources to handle multiple large-scale projects simultaneously. We’re ISNetworld certified, meeting the stringent safety and compliance requirements that major industrial clients demand.

More than 50 years in business means we’ve weathered economic cycles, adapted to changing building codes, and continuously invested in our people and processes. When general contractors choose Universal Wallboard, they’re choosing a partner with proven staying power and a track record that speaks for itself.

“More projects than anyone in Tucson. That’s not marketing—it’s just fact.”

WHAT SETS US APART

ISNETWORLD CERTIFICATION

ISNetworld is a third-party safety and compliance verification system required by major industrial clients including Raytheon, Roche, and Bridgestone. This certification demonstrates our commitment to the highest safety standards and opens doors to projects many competitors can’t access. Achieving and maintaining ISNetworld certification requires comprehensive documentation, regular audits, and proven safety performance.

MARKET LEADERSHIP

With 20,000+ completed projects, we have more experience than any commercial drywall contractor in Tucson. This isn’t just about volume—it’s about the accumulated knowledge from solving complex problems across every project type. From hospitals to high-rises, from government facilities to tribal casinos, we’ve done it all. Multiple times.

BREADTH OF EXPERIENCE

Some contractors specialize narrowly. We’ve made breadth our specialty. Healthcare facilities with stringent infection control? We’ve completed work at every major hospital system. High-rise construction? We framed The Ari’s 14 stories. Unique engineering challenges? Biosphere 2. This range means we adapt to your project’s specific requirements without a learning curve.

REGIONAL COMMITMENT

We’re not a branch office of a national company. Universal Wallboard is Southern Arizona’s contractor, built and operated here for over 50 years. We know the local general contractors, understand regional building codes, and have working relationships with inspectors throughout Pima County. This local expertise eliminates surprises and keeps projects moving.
